Dear Candidates, please note that after April we no longer offer tests at our test centre.

We are glad to present a new service for our candidates: The Online Results Checking.
Please note, you will be able to check your results only if you took the test no longer than 50 days ago.
The provisional results can be checked online on the 14th day after the test. These are not the official results, so you still will need to wait for your certificate.

Please be aware that the test dates are filling up very quickly! Be in time with your application for the test!

Keep in mind as well: from the moment of your call (to inquire whether there are still seats available for a certain date) until we have received BOTH your application form AND your payment it can be that the exam date which you have asked about is already fully booked.

What is IELTS and how do I register for the test in Utrecht?

The purpose of the IELTS test is to determine the English language proficiency of non-native speakers who intend to study or work in English speaking environment or to emigrate to an English speaking country.

The test is recognised by American, Australian, New Zealand, Canadian, British and European universities.

How does it work?

All candidates are tested in four areas: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The Listening and Speaking modules are the same for everyone, but the choice of Reading and Writing modules is determined by the purpose for taking IELTS:

  • Academic Reading and Writing modules are suitable for those seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
  • General Training Reading and Writing modules are suitable for candidates who are going to English-speaking countries to complete their secondary education or to undertake work experience or training programmes not at degree level. The General Training modules are also used for immigration purposes.

The exam consists of four parts, which are organised on the same day:

  • Listening: duration 40 minutes
  • Reading: duration one hour
  • Writing: two written tasks, one hour
  • Speaking: face-to-face interview, 15 minutes

In Utrecht the test is administered by IELTS Test Centre in cooperation with Utrecht University. The test location is the “Christelijk Gymnasium Utrecht” (Christian Gymnasium Utrecht). For route description, please click here or go to Google Maps.

As of August 1 the test fee is € 195 per person.

This amount is non-transferable, non-refundable and needs to be paid in advance. Please, do not send us the money by post! Only after IDP Education (Netherlands) has received both your payment and application form, your exam date will be confirmed.
